Unique Group was initially founded by R. Sampath Kumar as a proprietorship concern under the name – Unique Services - in the year 2003. It was started with a view to lend a hand to the mine owners in India in handling their exports, letters of credit, buying and selling activities, etc. It also acted as a chartered broker for dry bulk cargo and had a good rapport with leading shipping companies. In the year 2005 the proprietorship concern gave way to a partnership firm. Eventually owing to a major expansion in its business activities it was registered as a private limited company in 2007.
Unique Group is jointly promoted by R. Sampath Kumar and Santosh Shetty who all have considerable experience in running a large business and also managing large volumes of exports.
Unique Group and Unified Metals & Minerals Private Limited (UMMPL) is a life member of the Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI), Bangalore. It is also a Member of Federation of Indian Export Organization (FIEO), New Delhi.
The company is in the business of exporting and importing related to mining and also allied activities like import of coal, coke, limestone, sulphur and other minerals which are not available in India. The company has plans to import and trade in steel billets and special steels for actual user consumption.

THE PROMOTERS
R. Sampath Kumar (48 years), a Civil Engineering graduate with a Master’s degree in Business Administration has over 25 years of experience in Management, Administration, Exports, Logistics of Shipping, etc., at international levels. He has worked for large companies and has acted as buyers’ representative for large Chinese steel factories in Dubai and Europe. Being the CEO of the company he is responsible for performance and profitability of the company.
Santosh Shetty (43 years), a Mechanical Engineer, with over 15 years of experience in the hospitality industry in senior managerial levels for large companies in Dubai and Europe is another promoter of the company. He too has worked as buyers’ representative for large Chinese steel factories. |
